Lifesaving at the 2032 Olympics?

Recently, it was announced that Brisbane, Australia will be hosting the 2032 Summer Olympic Games. This has gathered a lot of chatter in the lifesaving community to include Lifesaving as an demonstration sport at the 2032 Games.

Surf Lifesaving is no stranger to the Australian community and the petition has already gotten 3000 signatures since it was posted. The purpose of the petition is to seek recognition for the complete Surf Lifesaving movement by executing it as a demonstration sport at the 2032 Summer Olympic Games.

In the past, back in the early 2000s, Surf Lifesaving came close to being an Olympic Sport. However, many have argued that not all countries have beaches. Fast forward to 2021, sports like surfing, skateboarding, sport climbing has all made it’s debut.
